Re: I Challenge Ya
Mon, March 1, 2004 - 6:30 PMMake a deposit in the BANK OF GOOD TODAY
Our intention is to share and disseminate good practice we have sponsored, commissioned or encountered through our activities with associations today. Inclusion in the Bank does not necessarily mean that the good practice will be appropriate in all circumstances or that it has been formally validated. Each association will have to take a view on what is appropriate for them.
Let s keep and open mind and deposit often....no deposit is to large or too small.
To assist, we include our definition of the characteristics of good practice, which we apply to all good practice in the Bank.

Re: I Challenge Ya
Mon, March 1, 2004 - 6:40 PMHow It Works
Perhaps you've seen the movie "Pay It Forward". Or perhaps you randomly received a generous favor from someone you didn't know. Or perhaps you've anonymously done a favor for someone else. If so, then you already know this: when you sow seeds of kindness and compassion in the heart of another, it grows, flowers, and eventually spreads its own seeds, even if you're not there to witness it.
In coming to this tribe you have most likely been the recipient of an anonymous act of kindness through which you received a invite. What next? The answer is simple: Pay It Forward! Instead of “paying back” the person who reached out to you, reach out and do the same. The stronger the action, the less there is to say; the action will speak for itself. The reward for such an action is the action itself.
Pass it on!
Bob (I borrow this)
We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Tue, March 2, 2004 - 5:18 PMStories of Kindness in Action
Part of the joy of this experiment is the anonymity. Sure, there is no rule against doing nice things for folks you know (and who know you), but there is something magical about helping someone when you have no expectation of reward. And let's face it: it's fun to be stealthy.
But this doesn't mean that your kind acts should go completely unnoted. Blog It Forward! Inspire others! Be inspired! Share the happiness!

Re: I Challenge Ya
Tue, March 2, 2004 - 10:43 PMHello, Irene checking in from Philly Delphia. Today I wrote a poem for the family of the little girl who was killed in a freak car accident last Friday night. I also gave her parents a check from the Stinger Square Advisory Council. I also talked, played and hugged an autistic little girl who just came into the center and didn't want to leave. She was holding on to me like she had known me all of her life. It was a good feeling. Is that a valid 3 for me? -

Re: I Challenge Ya
Thu, March 4, 2004 - 3:30 PMOn a lighter note... I may be the only girl alive that is not afraid of rodents...I caught one in my apt and retrieved two others from the people upstairs.. they were squealing so loud I had to set them free .took them to the field at the wildlife preserve and set them free from the glue traps.....left them some cheddar and waved goodbye...I must be crazy........ all the grief they caused me in my apt...But I agreed to pay it forward......The motto being "all life is precious" and sometimes a little sticky... thats three .....Peace -

Re: I Challenge Ya
Thu, June 30, 2005 - 7:02 AMI get tha hint,
As I boarded the plane in PHL on my way to SFO, A woman was in the middle seat, she stated her son is a few rows back becuase they booked late.
I gracefully swapped seats with the 6'4" young man...
Less then five minutes the flight attendant asked me why I had not received my requested upgrade, she came back and escorted me to one of two available first class seats....
At the end of the trip I retrieved my bags before the plane landed and loked the young man in the eye as we shook hands and stated, for me this was a great example of what happens when we do good deeds.
Believe me I would not be in a CC San francisco hotel, with a Human Services salary.....last minute at that.
I saw franky beverly orchestra section , Its amazing how good comes back to us...Not bragging just shared a few examples , whats yours??
This old laptop keys are terrible, appologize for so many typos at times..
